I recently went back and leveled my mage from 70 and started to gear him up, mostly crafted gear, ToC then heroic ToC, and one badge piece. He's respectable enough to go into Naxx or do heroics at this point.
Based on reading, I figured the frost I used for leveling was not the way to go, and have been using a frostfire build. It works. But I understand fire and arcane have more power at the moment, and I have WAY more mana than I need, at least for heroics.
Suggestions? Arcane is indeed the flavor of the month, and I liked playing arcane off and on in TBC, much as I liked playing fire off and on.
I'm not sure if I'm going to wind up raiding with him, but have an eye in that direction.
I am dual frost (few points in arcane for some hit bonuses) and full arcane. I tried fire and found I spend most of my time dead. I've seen fire do an amazing amount of damage, but find that as I've gotten used to arcane, I can hold my own compared to the fire guys.
Though, for arena, I find frost is definately better than arcane. Not sure how to post my trees, but if you want to look, my mage is Hycinisa on Demon Soul

To export your build, simply look your self up on the armory, and click export build when looking at the talents, that gives you just the talents on the armory talent calculator, from there C&P the URL. Or just link people to your character :P
