EverQuest EQ Opens New 51/50 Server!

Decided by community vote, EverQuest has opened today a new specialized server for players to enjoy. The winning server type allows players to play a new character starting at level 51 with 50 alternate advancement points.

Whether you are a seasoned EQ fan or someone who would love to give the game a try, now is the time to get in there and do something completely different!

We are pleased to announce that the Mayong (51/50) Server will be opening up at 11:00 am (PDT) Tuesday, June 30, 2009.

The rules of this server are the same as a standard server but the server does have the following differences:

* All new characters will:

o Start at level 51
o Start with 50 unspent AA points
o Start with a complete set of Flawed Defiant armor and weapons (Recommended level 50)
o Start with all spells and abilities through level 51
o Have all available skills at their maximum level (Spell specializations excepted)
o Tradeskills will not be set to a higher value initially

* Special Titles: There are a series of server first titles for the first defeat of various encounters.

The Mayong (51/50) Server is named after Mayong Mistmoore, one of Norrath’s most renowned vampires! Check back tomorrow as we share lore surrounding this historical figure.

Anyone re-subbing just to check this out? I never made it to level 50 back when I played so I missed out on higher level content. I think I'd kinda like to see what's available up there.

I have an open sub at the moment, but no Europeans seems to be interested in playing on Mayong so little point in me rolling there (no more 3AM raids for me).

There are some guilds talking about rolling there just to get the first titles, and others planning to use it as alt-testing. Seems to be a wasted effort really

I've never played EQ1 and I have someone who is trying to talk me into it. Is this the way to do it? What about all the pre-50 content? Wouldn't I be missing out on a tremendous amount of the game? What's the level cap anyways?

Level cap is 80 and about 2500 AA points.

Depends what your definition of content is, anything say.. prior to 60 is pretty much just grinding mobs. The good quest style dungeons and meaningful content is all from expansions and most of them later expansions.

You'll have fun learning your class though, a lot of class defining spells in those first 50 levels, melee will have it easier, most of their abilities are post 60.

I never played EQ1 and I never got passed 25 in EQ2. It could be interesting... Id have to find a copy of the EQ1 compilation first. :x

If anything I would like to experience this idiotic death penalty lots of people froth at the mouth about.
