Loading... EA BioMythic?

Yesterday's big announcement - that Electronic Arts is creating an MMO/RPG "group" from BioWare and EA Mythic and that longtime EA Mythic Studio Head Mark Jacobs had stepped on - created a whirlwind of speculation.

I'll break down what we know and don't know at this point and look at the possible effect this could have on WAR and Star Wars: The Old Republic's development in Loading... EA BioMythic?

I think they should call the new studio, Mythicware. And release a line of t-shirts to go along with it.

That took me a second to blink out... I hadn't heard that Cryptic lost the rights to Star Trek

All I know is I bought WAR after not liking the beta much because I was at a vulnerable low of boredom at the time and regretted it from the first 10 min of play. The game was just too slow or sluggish feeling for me to enjoy. I haven't looked back since. Good luck to them and I hope Bio doesn't get tainted as a result.

This re-structuring totally gave me a "girl" moment. I was a big fan of DAoC. It was one of my first MMOGs as it was for many and regardless of how people feel about Mark Jacobs, he IS Mythic. I can't imagine how hard it must be to have to walk away from something that has been essentially your life's work.

I full expect to see Jacobs in future projects, but him not being with Mythic makes me a little sad.

For the love of Chrysler keep them separated. Don't let anyone not from Bioware touch anything at Bioware.

I am curious as to whether we'll see any mixing of Bioware and Mythic. I rather doubt it but I could see Bioware using WAR to "field test" some mechanics and features.

It really depends on how deep into development TOR is.
