Default Sins of a Solar Spymaster #17 - The Archive of Tears

Just when you thought the Goons couldn't get any worse, they go and post porn. Not real porn, mind you, but EVE Online "chat porn" that typically features long-winded forum posts or in-game rants by opposition leaders. Thanks to the ingenuity of the Goonswarm spies, they've collected a large number of these porn posts, and the Mittani recollects a few of them for us in his latest edition of "Sins of a Solar Spymaster."

Quote:
Espionage in EVE is typically done to provide strategic intelligence to an alliance's leadership or for raw profit. But that's not entertaining enough for the GIA. Not only do our agents serve an intelligence function, but they also keep an ear to the ground to acquire the finest 'chat porn' - the posts of our enemies, wailing and gnashing their teeth in the face of our war machine. Over the years, we've collected an inordinate amount of chat porn. Some of it is fairly mundane - the bromides and rationalizations people typically ward themselves with to cope with defeat. But every now and then, truly exceptional examples crop up. For your sadistic enjoyment, they are reprised here: the Archive of Tears. If you're not a griefer at heart, you might want to stop reading; This isn't pretty.

in reference to the 3rd page. I find it funny that Free speech is is pretty much the norm for most of the word, but that people running large internet organizations continue to try and squash it. Its like looking at Iran or Hitler era Germany. I'm Glad I never tried to Join BoB/Ken, its like they don't want to have fun.

I have seen it in all the MMOs I have ever played, when it happened to me I simply left and started my own Corp.

At least from what I can see the Goons don't censor any of there members and that's good.

Carry on the good fight Mittens.

Normally you would think that at first, those "squash" attitudes were seperate phenomena in BoB/pets, but after looking closer, it turns out that it was the normal way to handle any and all ideas and discussions that went against BoB high directorate. It's pretty pathetic.

I have yet to see a democracy work in Eve on an alliance level tbh. People squabble too much about trivialities and the drama surrounding the infighting of interest groups trying to lead the alliance in various directions is usually a major turn-off whereas in real life it's the basis for a humane society made up of almost equals.

Freedom of speech and human rights aren't really all that important in an internet spaceship game as there can be no real consequences to your actions, such as "characteristics", vows of silence, political imprisonment or worse.

On the other hand, while there are no consequences to Giving The Finger to The Man, winning IS important in an internet spaceship game and dictatorships do this well because people that don't like their alliance attitude go to alliances that are more suitable for them and that in turn generates a more streamlined membership, or in BoB case a bunch of megalomaniacal sycophants you just must loove to grief
