Sins of a Solar Spymaster #15: A History of the Second Great War, Part Two
Changing the course of history in EVE Online
For players that want a chance to truly affect a game's environment, history, or future, EVE Online stands at the front of the pack of choices. Boasting tens of thousands of players online, all on the same server, EVE Online allows those willing to form massive corporations and alliances the opportunity to participate in events unseen anywhere else in the genre. This week, our resident EVE insider, The Mittani, breaks down the events leading up to and during the Second Great War for the masses.

Something had to be done to staunch the coalition's bleeding in Querious. Pilot participation was in the gutter, and increasingly it seemed that the average pilot viewed Querious as an irrelevant buffer region not worth expending effort over - or, worse, that they were completely unaware of the mounting strategic losses. In hopes of combating this, we began publishing daily 'war updates' laying out a frank assessment of our failings. Participation slowly began to recover.
As someone new to EVE, could someone suggest some some background reading to understand the towers & sovereignty? and the economics of the costs and benefits of these moons that people were fighting over? I guess a crawl through the wiki will get me up to speed eventually but there may be some summary or tutorial that would speed my education.

He does explain a bit abotu it in some of the earlier articles, but I poked around my self and found (what I assume are) good answers on EVEWiki.
Sometimes i wonder if Mittani truly is a spy in real life . I enjoy reading your articles mate, keep up the good work. Any chances you can let us know what Goonswarm is on about now that Kensudoku-sama are likely empire mining?

God you remind me Bitter Dog when he was at his height :S . Bob/Kensudoku/Whatever where going to fall, it was only a matter of time. It's a big surprise that they lasted that long with having the most ignorant and pathetic alliance leader (Sir Molle). The last months, Kensogoku where a shell of their former selves, and they really couldn't do a lot, even if they napped half the eve alliances, because well...being arrogant and generally lame doesnt get you or your alliance much further :P
