Default No Free-To-Play Option for Dungeons and Dragons Online Europe

Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) will soon become free-to-play in the United States when it launches its latest update, Eberron Unlimited, but our European brothers and sisters will have to wait on their free-to-play option. Codemasters, the regional publisher for DDO, clarified this point on their official website shortly after Turbine's Announcement.
Quote:
Today Turbine announced the start of its Beta program for a new digital upgrade for DDO called Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited, (DDO Unlimited).

As in the past, Turbine will be running this Beta program on its servers in North America to get the game ready for launch. This is a very exciting time for DDO and in the coming months, Turbine will unveil their plans to roll out DDO Unlimited to players around the world.

To clarify, for the time being, DDO Europe will not be assuming this new business model and the European DDO game service will remain a monthly subscription-based game with all new content created available to all subscribers, as has been the model up until now. As the Beta progresses we will release more information regarding the future plans for EU players.

As soon as we have more news from Turbine on what happens next we will share it.
Read the announcement here.

I, for one, am glad that code masters has decided to keep their business model intact. In fact, as a North American former subscriber, I might get an euro subscription instead. Of all the asinine ideas Turbine has had in the past, going F2P has to be, by far, the worst of them all. Way to make DDO as non D&D as you possibly can, Turbine.

I quit the game 3 months ago because of end-game lack of content. Now, with F2P I'm sure I won't be giving Turbine my hear-earned cash.

Peace.

Yes, Atari is rumored to be making a Neverwinter Nights MMO, Cryptic is part of Atari, therego Cryptic is rumored to be making a Neverwinter Nights MMO.

Neverwinter Nights is also part of Forgotten Realms, though we all know and love it from 3 and 3.5, I'm sure a new DnD MMO would be 4th Edition and that Forgotten Realms is a little different, but not too different.
