You know, I have to say I really enjoyed the Dancer when I took the tour with SE back when they first introduced the job. A large part of it was my lack of understanding for FFXI mechanics at the time.
The best I could do was apply my knowledge of other Final Fantasy games to XI. The other class released at that time, the Alchemist I think, played so different from the class of the same name in other FF games that I didn't know what to do.
Edited to add: Puppetmaster (from what I understand) was like a mix of a pet class crowd control and a weak melee fighter.
Same here. I didn't play FFXI enough to speak intelligently about that title, but the black mage skills have always been my favorite, even from the humble days of choosing between buying all of the elemental spells or skipping one to get Sleep in FFI on the NES.
My style of gameplay is usually to keep the enemy at a distance and make pretty colors on the screen. I look forward to making pretty colors in FFXIV.
In every game available, I've always been a tank or heavy armored guy of some sort. That's why PLD and DRK were some of my favorite. Well, those and Summoner, because when you first started using a SMN and get your better summons it feels really cool, to put it simply.
