Star Wars: The Old Republic SWTOR Full E3 Presentation

One of the hottest topics to come out of E3 yesterday was undoubtedly the presentation by EA: Bioware's, Star Wars The Old Republic. With the announcement of the game being the first fully voiced MMOG, this game was already poised to make the headlines of every Internet gaming site, but to add more to the story, EA and Bioware also announced their intention to drive more story into the game and also released one trailer loaded with awsomesauce. I have said for a long time that if there is any company out there that could potentially rival Blizzard and the World of Warcraft reign as king that it would be Bioware or Bethesda. I guess now I get to see if I was right?

Bioware is not only one of the best developers out there, but they are also smart. They are repeating a formula for success. The same formula that Blizzard used in fact.

Create a successful series of games. CHECK!
Blizzard (Warcraft 1-3) Bioware (Knights of the Old Republic)

Make series of games great and build massive following. CHECK!

Make that franchise into a great and epic MMOG.
Blizzard did it with WoW. Can Bioware do the same? If anyone can I think it's them. Time will tell.

I honestly doubt there will ever be a WoW-killer. Even WoWII probably won't do the trick. Its just too entrenched at this point.

However, I could SWTOR taking a big chunk of WoW's subscribers if Bioware delivers.

I don't think anything will kill WoW. I do think SWTOR could puts some dents in its armor though, but WOW isn't in danger of dying. Having its throne threatened as number 1 maybe, but certainly not dying. It will take one heck of a game to do so and my two top picks to make such a game have been for a long time Bioware and Bethesda.
