Join David "Xerin" Piner as we explore this topic as the next BlizzCon is looming in the horizon. Could it be an entire expansion of Murlocs or will be burst off into space? Here is what the rumor mill has churning for possible space exploration. First and foremost there are other planets out that are either under attack by the Burning Legion or are conquered by the Burning Legion. Secondly, Turalyon from the Warcraft II games was lost on Draenor and Tigole has said that we’ll see everyone who has a statue in The Burning Crusade (although this turned out not to be true).*Well, Turalyon is missing. Could he have flown off into space or something?
Everything is subjective. Throw your opinions out.
I'm really thinking we'll see a sea expansion with a cool underwater city where you can see the water through the glass

Very interesting article. In regards to phasing in the old world, I think that is a must. The game as it stands is too linear and that leads to boredom. What they need to do is have all areas of the game constantly evolving. Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend, and even Outland. Get rid of expansions focused on a single goal like Wrath and you have a world where the story can take any number of paths, rather than just quest to max level, heriocs, raids, repetitive dailies, yawn, pay $39.95 and repeat.
The more diverse the game gets, the more people you can attract (and keep). The more repetitive it gets, the less there's an incentive to keep going.
It is an interesting article, and I was just playing around by that wall again tonight.
But for all the places lore could go, the game is going to have a breaking point for me, whether it's level 80 or 90 or 100. There are just too many spells and abilities to keep track of for my old brain at 80 for some of the player classes. New areas to quest in, new instances? Great! New stories? Great! 20 more talent points, 100,000 more spellpower, 10,000 gold to train, 5 more spells per class? I think I'd be looking for a new game at that point.
Rather than raising the level cap all the time, give points in expertise, experience, and achievements that affects the amount you earn for quests and the rewards open to you. That should keep "spell creep" in line.
Good article. In my view you're off with this statement though.

Blizzard wouldn’t pour vast amounts of money into a new game that was just going to steal away already paying WoW players. So whatever the expansion is, it will probably be ramping up to WoW’s finale
I don't see Blizzard launching their new MMO to replace WoW or compete with it nor do I see a finale anytime soon. Blizzard's not about to close the cash cow in the hope current WoW players migrate to the new MMO. It's more likely they'll be trying to attract a different audience and/or have current WoW players playing both.
Storm is bang on with what he says about revitalizing Azeroth. There's so much more to this game then dungeons and raiding. If Blizzard would take their blinders off long enough to see that.
Personally with all the work they're doing on phasing, I definately think the Old World will play a massive part of the next expansion, and maybe even some of outlands. I'm actually hoping that we go more into the Emerald Dream. Would definately be interesting. Out of the 5 aspects of dragons, we've so far had a fair representation of the Black, Red, Blue, Golden but not really much in terms of Ysera of the Dream.
In my mind I'm running over a list of people we still yet to majorly face.
Sargeras.
Deathwing/Neltharion.
Queen Azshara.
(I'm not counting Arthas because he'll be in one of the next few patches obviously, furthermore, I hope you get to taunt him through his horse. That seriously pisses him off.)
That's all thats coming directly to mind right now. Obviously Sargeras would be the true end. Deathwing we know the location of. Azshara will be deep underwater, probably somewhere near the Maelstrom.

Its either the Emerald Dream, or South Seas, if those of you who HAVE played on private servers and have gone to the Emerald Dream, you'll see its nearly completed.
