Garriott Sues NCsoft for Millions

Now that everyone has moved on from Tabula Rasa and all that drama has died down, Richard Garriott stirs the pot once again by filing a 24 million dollar lawsuit against NCsoft for fraud!

Apparently he had been "dismissed" after his space adventure and did not agree with the decision. This puts an interesting spin on the fall of Tabula Rasa as it was widely believed that Garriott had washed his hands of the dying game freely. Clearly this was not the case and now people are left wondering, did NCsoft just give up on TR and want to cut all ties or did Garriott really make that big of a mess?

I really in general am not a "fanboi". However, I had played Richard Garriott games since Ultima 1...

So I felt rather odd about the entire Tabula Rasa experience. The game in my opinion had one of the most solid foundations and core mechanics of any game I'd ever played. The only issue was they didn't have enough game built on top of that.

So my personal feeling was that it was very odd he took a leave of absence just after the game launched.

So I will admit that if these claims are true it puts an odd spin on some of it.

The claim he was still in quarranteen from the space launch when they "fired" him... Also claiming that they reclassified this to a voluntary leave so that they would be able to pay less in stock options.

Honestly when I first saw the headline I was like WTF... because I had a very poor vision of Richard after what happened with Tabula Rasa.

I'm not really sure how this changes that.. but I guess its time to wait and see what else comes out. If the claims are true then it doesn't paint a very good picture of NCSoft (not sure it would make Garriott look better either).

That would be interesting. TR was a fun game with some really great aspects but lacking the polish. Mmmm Germany, the original Polish remover.

That would be a delicious turn of events, wouldn't it? The game was always a good idea, just poor implementation.

I heartily agree with this, I enjoyed TR alot and actually played for quite a while but eventually just ran out of stuff to do.

So I went back to WoW for the company of friends, family, and co-workers, all who still played WoW.
