If there's one thing that massively multiplayer online gamers love to learn about in upcoming MMOs, it's details about their potential character classes. To sate the ravenous appetite of the players, the Ten Ton Hammer staff will be bringing you exclusive, information-laden sneak peeks at Aion's eight character classes. Along with our other Aion content, we've scheduled the interviews to run on a bi-weekly basis, so make sure you check in with Ten Ton Hammer early and often.
The first class that we're going to be exploring is the Gladiator! As a member of the Warrior archetype, this brute excels at hand-to-hand combat with enormous two-handed weapons. Interested in learning more about this Aion class? Keep on reading!

Ten Ton Hammer: Being able to choose a Gladiator class seems to imply they'll have access to all forms of weapons, while possibly being limited in their armor choice. Will this be the case?
NCsoft: Gladiators are the masters of weaponry and can select from a variety of weapons from polearms to swords to fit their needs in battle. They are also versatile in their armor selection and may opt to use chain armor, but typically plate armor will achieve optimal results.
For all that is holy! Let me play the freaking game!!!!
Then go play? The game has launched in both Korea and China, and the Chinese retail has a pretty large English player base. Check out Aionsource.com, one of the most popular fansites for the game. There's guides on how to get started, which server the English players are on, and even Legion recruitment stickies for the English speaking populace And of course, there is an English patch for the game.

Yes indeed, but the turn-off for me is the price, 20 USD for 200 hours of gaming, to me, that rounds up to about 2 weeks of gaming. Also, the Chinese server is bot-ridden, and the customer support is horrible. There's no formal reporting system, and the english patch gliches the quest to Abyss, the PVP area, much like neutral zones in WoW, which is about the most important quest there is. All in all, I would recommend waiting for the NA server.
Gladiator, if equipped with a spear and all +Crit stones, yes the weapons and gear have sockets, has the highest DPS output after level 34. No one in their right mind would wear chain mail and they have a choice to double wield, 2 swords, or a sword and shield, but the most common, on the Chinese server at least, is the spear.
Oh, and Glads aren't that good of a tank, as opposed to a Templar. You'd have a hard time healing them, unlike the Templar who can tank a few mobs at once.
Having tried Aion China, as I use Chinese, I find that by playing a gladiator there is limited chance for a player to join a group to do higher level missions, e.g. Tursin (phoenetically trans.). It is a cool class indeed. I play a doll (hey everybody does this not just I) and she looks gorgeous. But that's all. The happy time is gone as soon as you finish all solo contents.
There is another setback for gladiators. You will have to buy rather than loot your equipments to keep you being able to survive higher level contents, as physical defence is all you need and good equipments are rare. The price of armour becomes ridiculously expensive as early as at lv14 because soooo many people are playing cool gladiators.

Not sure what site you're using to credit an account, 100 units (2h 5min per unit) cost me $15.78. Given that I play 3-5 hours per day and take a couple days off a week it's probably a month + for me, so I guess that depends how much you play.
As far as bots go, I've seen 3 since the shutdown of the botting program. So I don't know what's over-run unless you mean in the beta prior to NCsoft taking action against it.
The Abyss quest is pretty easy to get around, you just memorize the answers, disable your patch, took me all of 5 minutes to do.

You'll find a good number of dual wielding glads, as at least in the earlier levels it is far superior in damage output. As a 27 glad, my crits average around 700 with my polearm, and into the 1200-1500 area with dual wielding. The choice is obvious.

I multi-mob tank just fine, I need a noticable amount more healing than a Templar, but I've had no issues carrying my groups through the group areas without issue. My threat as a glad is also on-par, if not better than that of a Templar.
