Sins of a Solar Spymaster: Wars Are Lost By the Loser
Each war has its winners, and its losers. While history lessons may be full of factoids for us to memorize about the winners, it’s most often the losers who determine the outcome of a given war. The same holds true in CCP’s EVE Online and for this week’s column The Mittani explains how the war in Delve was ultimately lost by the losers, rather than won by the winners:
Quote:
I've had to sift through piles of such offal while reading other people's forums - honorless spying sort that I am - and there is one principle that has consistently held true in EVE, and yet I've never seen it popularized. Here it is: "Wars are not won by the winner; they are lost by the loser". In other words, between roughly equal forces, things are usually not won through the winning side deploying some stunning tactic or beautiful offense, but rather the loser making a critical error and the winner identifying the mistake and exploiting it. Until the 'oops' moment, the strategic situation trends towards stalemate. As an example of this in action, let's look to the war in Delve.
Completely agree!! I think it's great getting the low down on the goings on in New Eden! Especially from someone involved in the more agressive side of the game. Not to mention he sure seems to enjoy his work which is insperational to a soon to be noob like myself!!
*breaks out his list of things to do and writes at the top**
1) learn to play EVE
2) Topple an empire
*taps foot waiting for the mail man to drop off his shiney box set**
p.s. Kudos to whoever thought up this idea. I don't think you could have picked a better person to write a weekly article like this!

Dam - Great read and super content. If you keep this up Mittani your going to force me to have the toon on my fighter acct join a Corp and get into the action. Seriously, very enjoyable and informative.
It was a combo effort between me and Ethec. We pretty much said, "Damn, he's a good writer." and "We should have him write more."
Then we made it happen.
Well great job too both of you!! I thought Ethec just spent his days answering hate mail from disgruntled SGW fans? *snicker*
