Future MMOG Players Need to Start Somewhere
With World of Warcraft dominating the MMOG market, a number of games try to appeal to children to raise the next generation of players with notion that there is more to life than WoW. This week, Danny "Ralsu" Gourley takes a look at three upcoming games aimed at younger gamers and offers his opinion on which one is likely to enjoy the most success. Here's a hint: the game will be free-to-play!

Does anyone else besides me ever wonder if unholyblackdeath is an alt of Demonyx? At the very least, they have to be brothers; they exhibit the same need to criticize everything.
In all seriousness, you probably missed it, but Ten Ton Hamster has been put on indefinite hiatus. I'm gathering from your complete lack of interest in these titles that you have no children of your own yet. Give it time. If you ever do have children, your entire life view will change. In the meantime, next week's Top Ten will not be about games aimed at younger players, so you should have something new to complain about that does not involve children (again with the ribbing).
If (big IF) those games (Lego, HKO, or FR) are any good, I'll be sure to mention them more. But only if they are good to appeal to me, too. I mean, 5 minutes of HKO was enough to make my woozy and want to watch a Quentin Tarrantino film just to affirm my adulthood. I don't suspect I'll be featuring that one any time soon no matter how well it's built.
You are right, I have no children. I am not married and enjoy my freedom too much for that sort of thing.

My criticism is well intentioned. I enjoy this site and do not wish to have it ruined by bringing a younger crowd into the community. I am an adult, I enjoy my adult games and enjoy having adult discussions about said games with adults. I have always thought that differing views makes for excellent debate and conversation if those involved are mature. No offense intended.
Keep up the good work. I always read your top ten and the accompanying articles. You have changed my mind about F2P games and introduced me to Atlantica (which I LOVE!). Please do not take my comments in a negative way. I just come across like that sometimes.

I'm pretty sure that I am not father material and that the parent lifestyle would make me miserable. I know this and have been responsible by not having any kids. This is all beside the point and has nothing to do with gaming at all.

I can totally respect that. I could have done without children, but it would have made my wife miserable.
most people out there shouldn't breed...watch idiocracy to observe the full brunt of breeding gone wrong.
of course i cant see going to a GAME site for adult interactions either.
both lego and free realms look great on paper, but i cant stand diner dash type games so i dont think free realms will really appeal to me. but it certainly will to that demographic. legos i have always loved and cant wait to try an online version, but if i cant build my own massive boat/fortress (boatress) to float around in i will be pretty sad. im glad it is p2p, i cant imagine a cash shop to buy more/different blocks in...that would just seem cheesy.
as a side note: my opinion of SOE has changed alot lately. i used to think they sucked horribly too (i hate sony in general) then i realized they are no worse than any other company, they just have WAY more emotional and vocal fans than any other company.
