One of the nicest surprises of NY Comic-Con was Global Agenda, a futuristic MMORPG shooter that looks fantastic on account of its UE3 roots. What's more surprising: Hi-Rez Studios' freshman effort looks to be deep on the RPG and the shooter). We have a host of screenshots and a video posted so you too can be pleasantly surprised - or asshattedly critical, your choice! Just so long as you share your opinions below.
Wow.... I couldn't get sound, though - did anyone mention anything about a first person mode? If it is I'd be there with my name down for beta before [insert humorous comment here].
The Unreal Engine 3 is definitely full of win, and it seems Hi-Rez have really capitalized on its strengths from what I've seen of GA so far. If they can nail the fast pace of combat in UT3, but then give it a much more interesting framework than the horrid UT3 single-player "storyline", I'll be all over it like sand on paper.
Here's a couple o tidbits from the official FAQs re: persistence and/or gameplay:
Quote:
Our real-time, action-oriented combat system is as fluid and fast paced as any online multiplayer shooter, but within the context of a persistent, evolving world.

Global Agenda is very much a player-driven, PvP experience with PvE playing a supporting role.
I'm really in two minds about what game I want to try: Earthrise, Global Agenda or Huxley and each time something new comes out about one game I think 'Ooh! That one!" until the next tid bit comes out.
The RPGer in me loves the look of EarthRise. The person in me who misses PlanetSide wants Global Agenda... and Huxley just looks cool.
