Default Lunia Preview

Lunia, a new free-to-play game developed by Allm, attempts to blend the action of an arcade game with some more traditional MMOG elements, all wrapped in a neat cartoon-inspired package. Reuben “Sardu” Waters recently spent some time scampering around Rodesia, hacking his way through mutant slime and exploding ostriches to bring you his initial impressions of the game.

Quote:
While combat throughout a given mission might pit you against large swarms of enemies that require the use of various tactics, the bosses in Lunia are true to form in the sense that combat is reduced to alternating between attacking and running in circles. Did I mention that bosses have special attacks that can kill you in one hit? Not my cup of tea, but to each their own!

Default My personal view on Lunia

Well, ive been playing Lunia ever since the 1st day it came out in the US. I'll try my best to simply state what i find to be the good/bad in Lunia without being too biased.

The Good followed by the bad:
1. The most attractive thing about Lunia is the combo system. You can combine melee button keypressing with movement dashing with in-game skill using to create really interesting combos. It's all live-action which i mean the game doesn't pause and wait for you to keypress then launches the combo. What you press is what you get and you end up juggling mobs and pulling off really cool looking arcade-action combos. Well the downside is that if your internet lags then you'll barely be able to pull off combos and it'll start to be frustrating when all your party members are slashing away with cool combo sequences.

2. The graphics. It isnt top notch graphics but if you're more into the Ragnarok Online anime-2D-ish feel of a game this is it. Camera angle is really restricted in the game which is because of it's combo system. Because you have to move around in 9 directions to combo monsters, it would be harder to create a live-action arcade game otherwise. The allm company that made is about to release a new Korean arcade game based on Lunia but improved in a really stylish looking 3d World. *I forgot the name but it looks totally sick, coming out in 2010 i believe...it's Lunia's combo system but you're put in a luscious 3d world*

3. The skill balancing is actually really good. Considering the millions of different combination of combos and melee strings you can create. For about 9-10 characters this game actually balances it really well offering a wide selection of "taste" for different gamers.

4. The stages are annoying. You'll have to get through the stages bit by bit and you need a party to complete it. Unlike other mmorpgs where you can solo and grind your way alone. Lunia is totally dependant on the party system which sucks at times but fun if you're a really social and friendly person with connections everywhere.

5. The game hosting company, Ijji.com. They are really sensitive about the TOS policies and the issue which most people are frustrated about is the name censoring rule. (Personally i got my high character banned because one day they decided my charname Loli is "highly inappropriate" and they refuse to namechange and unban me even though i've played it for half a year and spent Real cash-item money on it....several other people were also banned for sensitive reasons) Example: My friend Yagami got banned because ijji found his name to be sensitive when read backwards iamagaY <--- lol sensitive much? ... A lot of other people got banned too when they made their own custom names cos ijji believes it to be a sensitive issue. What's worst is they claim to be unable to change your character names for you meaning once banned, it;s as good as forever.

6. Timezone affected. Since it's hosted in US and most of its gamers are in the US. Most people come online in the afternoon and at night PST time. So it's actually hard to find a party at the odd hours meaning you'll be alone and unable to do anything since every stage is party based.

7. Oh if forgot to mention, Lunia is probably the only game out there that officially lets it's player reach lvl 60/99 in a day! yes you heard me in 1 day without any cash item whatsoever but it's a whole day of hard work nontheless ive yet to meet an official game which allows it's players to do that. But with that said, the game might get boring fast since you'll be high level-ed in now time xD There's a rebirth system in place and you can rebirth at any level even at level 1 giving you access to better stats and new skills.
