WoW Celebrities: An Interview with NFL Punter Chris "Warcraft" Kluwe

When it was discovered that an NFL player was thinking about changing his name to "Warcraft" to honor his favorite hobby, MMO industry columnists and football fans across the internet went into a posting frenzy. In a situation similar to that of future Hall of Fame pitcher, Curt Schilling, people seem to be fascinated that a professional athlete might enjoy a game like World of Warcraft. Rather than simply post the news, the Ten Ton Hammer staff opted to track down Chris "Warcraft" Kluwe and find out the truth about his name change and why he's known as such a video gamer.

On top of all the quests, Chris is a pretty avid raider, and his guild is now actively farming Sartharion. Chris explained that his schedule actually works out pretty well for all the WoW that he plays. "My practice pretty much consists of punting the ball for 45 minutes a day," he said. "I don't have to watch much film like the other guys on the team. When I go home I spend as much time with my family and my new baby girl as I can, then when she goes to sleep I get online to raid."

I think it is great publicity to have someone acknowledge the fact that MMO's are so huge. WoW probably the largest among the games. Although I HATE rogues (I am a Lock) I would treasure the opportunity to have wiped Azeroth Clean of Chris. What Realm was he on again???

This guy truly is an avid gamer. He is on 93x the local rock station here in Minneapolis at least once a week. He has held some Guitar Hero Competitions for Charities and he really is a cool gamer. He's a nice guy who does a good job for the vikes and for gamers worldwide. Proving you dont have to be in IT, to play wow or any other game.
