Perfect World International First Impressions

Perfect World International may not be as perfect as the name implies, but Dalmarus was impressed nonetheless. After being traumatized by Magic World Online, he wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to play another F2P game again. Was it the crack of the whips suffered in the Ten Ton Hammer Slave Pits, or the thought that no game could be worse that made him change his mind? We’re guessing it’s the latter.

For any of my long time readers (and heck, even my short timers), you know that a lack of character customization is one of my biggest pet peeves in all games, let alone F2P ones. I recently hailed CoX for their outstanding costume customization options. CoX may be the ruling masters of costumes, but Perfect World is now the undisputed world champion in the ring of facial and body customization. I have yet to come across any MMOG (and I've played more than I care to think about), whether F2P or subscription based, that comes remotely close to the customization available in Perfect World. For years, Star Wars Galaxies has been recognized as the title holder, but no more.

Actually, you kinda got the short end of the customization stick when you chose barbarian. Choose any more human class, and you will have a hundred times the customization.

I played around with a human blademaster first. That's when I discovered the ungodly amount of options you get... it was awesome

I played the Malyasian version of the game, which was just okay. I'll have to jump back in and check out the International version.

I was on the malaysian one too, before I stopped playing it. Is it filled with engrish in the international version?

PWI is MUUUCH better on the translation.

didnt the MY version actually let you paste your actual face on your character?
cant get much more custom than that.

the territorial territorial pvp is also real "interesting" in PW.

My nephew got me to give PWI a try a week ago, and the crazy thing is I can't stop playing it...the crazy part is I'm playing Mines of Moria and trying the 10 day trial for the Lich King.
I didn't need another MMO to suck me in right now.

This is the first F2P game I've tried and I'm very impressed so far, and for me it's attraction has nothing to do with it being "free", I'm comparing it to the sub based games I'm playing now.
I'm a working stiff so time more than money is what I am always short on.
