Default Interview with US Community Manager Glen"Famine" Swan

The success of Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures (AoC) like most MMOGs hinges on the success of the community. Glen "Famine" Swan is one of the community team members of Funcom responsible for aiding and helping to build the community. This week Ten Ton Hammer got the chance to Interview Glen "Famine" Swan and find out a little bit about his background and what he is responsible for at Funcom.

Quote:
Glen: Well it should be no surprise that we are more than just forum monkeys when it comes to our positions within the studio. Mostly we compile feedback reports based on the players, discuss top concerns with the developers, maintain the community portals, and convey information between the gaming portals. It’s hard to explain everything we do as we do so much between customer service and community relations but we sure have fun while doing it.
You can read the full Interview here.

Famine serves as a middleman for Funcom and the community. As such he often catches the brunt of the communities ire when they become enraged. Never the less he manages to provide customer service with a smile. So what do you guys think of Famine?

Famine's been quite active on the fan sites -- it's nice to see that and smart of Craig to maximize on Famine's strengths to the benefit of the Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventure community.

Since Craig Morrison took over, progress on Age of Conan, FunCom's closed beta product, has improved dramatically.

I was hoping Age of Conan would reach it's value to play price point by December 2008, but even with the progress being made, there's still so much work to be done. It's quite clear Age of Conan will likely still take quite some time to reach release quality.

I am holding on to the $10 game box I purchased from a friend. Like many MMO hobbyists, I shall continue to monitor FunCom's progress with this game, with the intention of subscribing once release quality is reached.
