Exclusive Interview with the Creator of Gatheryn - The Creation of the First MMOAG

Ever felt out of place in typical massively multiplayer online games? Do you constantly crave for something to do other than beat out the brains of a poor, innocent orc with a knotted club? Are you tired of all the Steven Seagal-esque hacking and slashing? If so, the world of Gatheryn may be the perfect place for you. Ten Ton Hammer's Cody "Micajah" Bye recently sat down with the game's lead designer, and we've got the official scoop on this not-so-casual upcoming game!

“We’re actually setting it up so that some mini-games will have that [combat] element in them. But when you’re in the big game environments where all the other players are, you’ll never be able to pull out a sword and kill anybody. We’re doing everything we can to remove a lot of the griefing that goes on in other games. What we want to do is bring in a larger audience, many of whom are probably aggravated by what’s going on in the larger MMOs right now. We’re adding in the casual games to expand the audience even further.”

This sounds very refreshing. After reading the interview, I visited their website and as soon as I read the following line, I decided to keep a close eye on this game:

Step back in time to a place and era that never quite existed. Where steam engines trundle down the avenues and vendors hawk their wares! The sounds, the sights, the mysteries - all await you and your friends.

They then when I read on, I found myself smiling like a loony.

Assume any of various roles of Victorian themed characters

The screenshots are rather pretty as well, which is a definite plus.

It's certainly gong to be a game that I'll keep my eye on - I'm sick of fighting orcs and elves, and my 'perfect' sci-fi game hasn't been announced yet, so this is the next best thing.

I just hope it's as good as my imagination seems to think it is.
