Interview with Game Director Craig 'Silirrion' Morrison

Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures (AoC) new Game Director Craig 'Silirrion' Morrison has been a topic of heavy discussion since his appointment as the new Game Director. This week Ten Ton Hammer got the chance to Interview Craig Morrison in his first Interview since his appointment as AoC's Game Director and get some answers to many burning questions for the community. In the Interview Craig talks about his vision for the future of the game, his job as Game Director, and how he will handle communication with the community.

I think for my part the main areas that I will be trying to focus on will be more of the MMO mechanics that we can advance further. Bringing in more guild and community functionality and continuing to build on the PVP and Siege sections of the game, I think we have a great deal of potential there to really make the players involved in the world they inhabit. Conflict I think is a key factor for a game world to maintain long term interest and the world created by Robert E Howard for the Conan universe just cries out for that conflict to be expanded upon and developed.

I'm very encouraged by Craig's community focused approach to management and I really think he's going to do a lot for the game. This is exciting to see AoC taking this positive turn!

I, too, strongly believe Craig as the game director will finally bring Age of Conan into it's own.

We're truly anxious to see Age of Conan mature and develop it's potential as Craig and his team works hard to bring the game to release quality.

I have always been a community person at heart, and I still feel strongly it’s an important part of the process. Everyone is happier when the communication lines are open. I think people will hopefully already be seeing that I’ll be trying to make sure people stay updated as much as possible."

That's one important aspect I have seen stay constant in the MMORPG community. Communication has to be kept open between developers and players even if the changes they propose are controversial or not liked by some. Even if you catch some heat the community will respect you all the more for it.

People like to know they are being listened to. Even if their ideas aren't beng used.
