Wrath of the Lich King's PvP keeps adding new features and evolving so that players will have different experiences in PvP than they had when they played through WoW's second expansion. In this article, Gabriel "DarkFact" Zamudio checks out the changes to the Honor Point system, and how this will affect endgame PvP content as a whole.
Lake Wintergrasp has a boss inside Wintergrasp Hold you may defeat for one piece of epic Arena gear, should you choose to while your faction controls the zone. Currently, there's no restrictions on when to enter Lake Wintergrasp to PvP, so if you can get here and join the fight, you probably can. It's too early to tell just how players will react to Lake Wintergrasp's mechanics, as some may love it, some may hate it, and some may just avoid it altogether, but the rewards given if you complete the zone for a round (4 hour intervals) will be some Honor Points and some Arena points, which are both always nice to have.[/url]
On Hydraxis the Alliance pretty much rules the roost when it comes to world pvp, such as Halaa and the towers in Terokkar. So now we have to control a zone and down a boss to get anywhere, awesome. Thank you Blizz, preciate it. <insert volatile, rude hand gesture here>
So there is no balance to the teams at all? 100 alliance vs 4 horde?
with there being no numerical balance on 99% of the realms this sounds kind of cheesy to me. Maybe this is blizzards "mechanism" to balance horde/alliance pvp. If alliance can't win in AV, even with numerous nerfs to the horde, then create a new zone that pits 10 alliance vs 1 horde. Problem solved. If you can't win why will the horde play?
It's a lot more balanced this time around, trust me. It's not as easy to be glowing in epic gear at 80 like it is right now, and truly Wintergrasp is more about teamwork in taking the enemy fort down, or defending it.
Also, let's keep in mind that the fort lasts 4 hours between faction attempts, so you could theoretically grab a lot of people hungry for that raid boss, round them up, and storm the keep next time you can
It's the Arena requirement - and particularly the Rating requirement - that has caused me to cancel my subscription.
Wintergrasp sounds great, love to try out a new BG... but I'm sick of uneven gear based on one specific form of PVP.
I haven't canceled yet, but it seems that the system has eventually made the gear-rich richer, the rest of us need not apply.
For any number of reasons, many of us find even a 1550 arena rating unattainable. If you happen to poke your head above that level, stop what your doing and go fetch your next item, providing you have enough arena or honor points saved.
I understand the idea behind a reward system. If you're that good, then there are advantages. But the rest of us have NO access to better gear, for at least 2 arena seasons, no matter how hard we work or perservere.
