Developer Jeff Lyndon's brush with the illicit Chinese goldfarming trade paints a much different picture than the one fostered by recent media coverage. During Ten Ton Hammer's recent visit to China, Lyndon described how he rather innocently fell in with an RMT operation, the paltry conditions the workers faced, and how he made his escape.

That was a great read...a bit strange, what he said about feeling "burdend" how the workers are threated and he still took the some time to sort things out...but in the end he left in favor of morality and guilt?
Somehow, this sounds a bit one sided, but it is good that he left that grey business and walked to new shores (means, he took up building games not exploiting them).
I like articles like this, its easy to say gold sellers shall rot in hell...but on the other hand, those guys (the worker bees) want to earn a living, I think its hard for them to find a job and money doesnt stink (much).
I look forward to more articles with looks behind the curtains of the grey sphere around online gaming, well written and all that

i hope nobody feels sorry for him/them. as far as i am concerned he should be shot on sight, gold farming screws the players that actually have to work for it in-game.
i seriously hope he gets aids from his dad.

This statement is cheap and shows a very specific mindset behind it...megaflux, you are not even cool.
I do feel sorry for them...but I detest gold selling.
Peoples do a lot for food if they are starving, the guilt is not only for those that scavenge the work of those poor guys...the guilt is also with players that buy that dirty gold...who is more at fault ?
The guys that give a **** about games and just want to have money to make a living or the fat assed gamers buying the goods ? ( I can stereotype as well)

many of us work for businesses and people who's beliefs we dont follow. Most of us do it because it was the lesser of two evils for us or in some cases the only way for us to keep a roof above our heads and food in front of us.
Its easy to say gold farmers should rot, more like the companies should rot, and the people at the top earning all the money.
Hell, should we blame the service station attendant who earns 6 maybe 7 dollars an hour for the evils of the fuel price?

It's just crazy that these people would scrounge up thrown out food, cook it up with a bunch of spices, and feed it to the workers. I've heard that a lot of Asian gold farmers work in deplorable conditions, but that brings the point home.
This part, too:
Quote:
Riding an emotional high from his recent discoveries, Jeff initially signed on to the concept. It wasn’t long before he started to have misgivings. “ I told [our new HR manager] that we need to staff up our team, like 60 people, in two months, and I guess that’s a big task for you. You know what his reply was? He was like, ‘Jeff, if you ask me to find a 100 dogs, that’s going to tough, you ask me to find a 100 guys, that’s nothing.’ That’s one of the hardest truths about China.”
While gold selling sucks, and I spend a fair amount of every week banning gold sellers from this forum, I can't say I don't have compassion for the people in the trenches. The gold selling companies themselves are despicable, but the workers they hire are just trying to scrape out a living.

Haters goldsellers but never has to worry about anything but whether or not he'll hit the level on time. Has food/drink on his desk, has a roof over his head with mom, might have a job, thinks the economy of the game is more important than just having a good time.
Probably starving in China and has to do things that make captain fatty a little bit sad in order to live.
