Do you believe in numbers? I sure do (too many finance and economics classes). After looking in on the latest data culled from the WAR beta, it appears that the devs have done a good job of making all of the classes playable and viable. Of course in beta, people probably play them all just so they can report on them!
But, the numbers are reassuring to me that the Mythic team is working hard to make all of the options for players good ones.
Read the rest of the news and view the charts and graphs and then let me know if these numbers sway your vote on what you are going to play (or maybe play first) when WAR hits the streets.
I'll be the Black Orc over in the corner waiting to kick in some teeth!
So far i've heard very different from some testers, anyway the EU/US test servers where split could be that aswell (WTF! on that btw, splitting EU and US for testing)
What i've heard for those interested is that the 'good guys' are going to be severly under populated especially the elves.
Anyway i don't rely on hearsay or numbers from 'beta' as they give a complete incorrect representation, I know this from AoC where the complete opposite happend as predicted.
It will be interesting to see what happens, but just saying it will be a-okay or that doom is upon us based on the current information is just too highly speculative material that requires me to assume too much.

I think those numbers paint a pretty muddy picture with no clear cut a-okays or doom, so I am actually surprised. I anticipated more clear cut winners that everyone was going to play - like some other game that is beta right now, I'd anticipate that 100% of the players for Lich King will play a Death Knight...lol, apples and oranges, but I'm just saying.

Reason: Kralle caught my freudian slip
I think that the min-maxers will figure out which classes pump out the most dps/hps, etc. and we will see influxes as the game rolls on. With that many classes the balancing has to be a nightmare and there will always be someone with a great spreadsheet ahead of the curve - find that guy (or gal) and do what he/she does (if you're into that kind of thing)!
I think the min/maxers will have a big surprise waiting for them...I strongly believe that the most played classes are those with much utility and survival.
Actually, the game focus is more in the center of teamplay so far...the lone wolf will have his hours, but overall its the team that will keep its needs.
Its not about who heals most or makes the biggest dps...they have parts thats for sure, but in the end with all the many modifiers like morale/tactics/renown abilitys/skills we have a very wide range of many different styles with 20 classes...plenty of room for charts with missleading numbers

Josh Drescher said in a video that in beta there was only a 3% difference between the most played and the least played class in the beta. I don't think the WA poll is exactly scientific. It will probably be skewed in the beginning but will quickly even out once people realize just how well all the classes play.

As said above there's no way to tell for sure whether or not the same trend will be shown upon release but i'd say that in the end things will be balanced.
However things turn out it'll be interesting to see
