Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) is out to bring the fun of a collectible trading card game (TCG) to Star Wars Galaxies players. The new TCG bears the title Champions of the Force and is scheduled to appear at the 2008 SOE Fan Faire. Ten Ton Hammer's resident TCG junkie, Cody "Micajah" Bye, had a chance to ask SOE-Denver Associate Producer Darla Freeze about the game.

In a computer game there are things you can do that you just can't in traditional card games.

It is really nice to see this for the current community of SWG. They also just recieved Voice Chat and an in game web browser. And the recent update for weaponsmith has really helped the SWG community enjoy the game which they really needed. I still think they need a classic server which by the way SOE is not locking those threads anymore as long as it is in the GAT and doesn't turn into a flame fest. So to me as a consumer this is really cool and a nice direction for SWG. I have also heard they might buy middle-ware to install a collision system?

This is out-right ridiculous!

Bio ware has already announced that they are working on a REPLACEMENT for SWG. This means that the game that you are trying to hype is going under, and fast. This is a sick desperate attempt by SOE to milk the very last cent it can out of the SW license before it losses it to bio-ware.

They didn't lose the license. The games take place in completely different time periods, as far as we know.
