Exclusive Paul Barnett Comic-Con Blog - A Comic Library
During his trip to Comic-Con, Warhammer Online's Paul Barnett made sure to sit down and rattle off a few of his inner thoughts about comic books in general. It seems that Paul used to be quite the collector back in the day and felt a bit discouraged about not flying to the show on the first day. As many of you have witnessed, Paul has a flair for words, and none have been edited out of this immense blog post. Ten Ton Hammer has your exclusive look inside Paul Barnett's head, so don't miss out. Click here to read all of his Comic-Con blog posts!

So a thought hit me this morning as a tried to poke my eye out with my breakfast spoon. Somehow it feels wrong and bad that I am flying out on Thursday. After all surely the true believers go on Wednesday. Perhaps my commitment is not as strong as it once was or maybe I am trying to help make the game back at Mythic HQ.
I watched an empty house burn down on a hill. It was an epic movie moment, like the back lot burning they did for Gone with the Wind, all licks of fire and vibrant colours, nature and the elements at their finest, chewing into the internal human instinct, the same one that makes you all look out of a window when a big storm hits. I came across a lumber yard that also went up in pungent aromatic smoke. You smelt it before you saw it and it lingered in the air, the clothes and - I swear - in the tarmac roads. And I did my best to offer support when the Norwich Library burnt to the ground taking with it countless, priceless books. They fought that fire for days before it finally gorged itself on so many words and phrases that the fire developed pan dimensional awareness and flew to the stars as cosmic steam, leaving behind the carcass of the old library, picked clean, bare and naked for all too see.
Who would of though an Orc loving psycho could have such a way with words...I mean..WOW! I was gob smacked after reading that. I have gone from respecting Paul as a video games fanatic to respecting him as a greater being too. Thats the sort of stuff that ancient Chinese philosophers spend their entire lives writing about....
+rep for Paul! (though he does not post here so I can't give it him, he can have my rep in spirit!)
EDIT: Wow...was bloody decent of him to donate the majority of his comic and graphic novel collection to the new library (though he had duplicates of them all, as every fan should have!). Hang on, I think I have something in my eye...

I had just highlighted the exact same quote when I saw your post, Beerkeg. There's definitely a bit of the poet in Paul. That's some fantastic writing, right there. As great as Paul is as WAR's creative director, I have to wonder if writing isn't his true calling.

Having grown up at about the same time, but "across the pond" from Paul, I can remember reading Miller, Wagner, and Moore as they were coming up and feeling the same way. There was just something in the air back then- it was a pretty special time for comics. 'Course, there was loads of crap too, like the man says. Still, the good stuff was so good it made sorting the wheat from the chaff a glorious adventure, not a chore.
One of the nicest blog entries I've had the pleasure of reading. Thanks, Paul...and TTH.
That was a good piece of writing. I like his style. It was very fun to read.
To be honest, I don't remember when the last time I actually found something this fun to read.
Very, very nice. I wish I could +rep. =]

Lets hope he comes in and starts posting! He and the rest of Mythic are very well respected amongst the TTH community.
It's not for lack of invitation. But honestly, they're trying to get a game out the door, so it's natural to expect everyone at Mythic to be insanely busy. I'm glad they take the time to give us interviews and blogs and such. Paul (or anyone from Mythic) posting on our forums would simply be an awesome bonus.
