Exclusive WAR Comic-Con Blog - Paul Attends the Geek Prom
For many, attending Comic-Con is like heading to Mecca where fanatic comic book followers worship at the alters of Spider-man, Batman, and Luke Skywalker. Warhammer Online's Paul Barnett knows this feeling and the Ten Ton Hammer staff has granted him an exclusive blog for the entirety of the comic extravaganza. That's right, Paul Barnett has been unleashed, so prepare yourselves for some WAR goodness!
With his first entry, Barnett describes his own feelings while attending his first comic convention. You can read a snippet of it here:
Quote:
I arrived at 4 in the morning, got in line behind three other people more insane than me and almost froze to death waiting for the doors to open. I said hello to anyone who entered that I knew or who wore a name badge I could read and recall. I spoke at length with others in the line and obsessed about what I would see and experience at the show. I staggered about collecting the comics that I always wanted, gawping at the things I could not afford and being stunned with the amount of people who shared my passion.

Great blog
Last time i felt like that was at the premier of Lord of the Rings - Return of the king.
Having not read the books and waiting for 2 years since the first part AND preparing for the last part by watching part 1: 12 times and part 2: 8 times in the weeks prior to the premier
Sure was an awesome feeling standing outside the theater and then coming in and seeing the cameras start rolling

No seriously, 4am? In Edinburgh? Please say you were there in summer! Otherwise we might have lost you to frost bite and then we would never have gotten to know the crazy Orc loving psycho that you are now!
Good luck at comic-con, may the WAAAGGHH! be with you (and try not to spend all your money collecting batman comics for Josh!)
Ooh ; Paul gets to meet pretty much the entire casts of Torchwood, Heroes plus Joss Whedon and the fiendishly wonderful Doctor Baltar !
Get them all to sign WAR merchandise, then put it up as competition prizes !
TTH exclusive competitions !
On the understanding that I get to win them all !
Do eet ! Do eet !
I like the fact that everyone is shocked when more people like something they do. I did it when i was geting into one type of anime called Guyver. I can't wait for more ^^

just in case you haven't seen them.
There are 2 live action Guyver movies (The Guyver and The Guyver 2). They are horribly amusing, and well worth the watch (pure 80's B Rate movie, even if they came out in the 90s).
I however I understand all that as well. The first time you run into a significant group of people who have similar interests as you it is awesome. For me it was HS when I met the SciFi/Fantasy (Sciffie) club.
That picture with the metalic tape and the words "war" on it .... is it just me or does it make anyone else look at him like he's a hip reimagination of the character Jaws from the old James Bond Films?
Entering the masses of the passionate is always dangerous and exciting ... we'll have to watch the news closely.
