Default Will you play a sports MMO?

Football Superstars is a soccer-based MMO coming out later this year (ready for closed beta). Does this kind of game interest you?

I have to say I'm intrigued, but the reason I like MMOs is the strategy of the gameplay (more like a cooperative RTS than a FPS) so I don't know if a sports MMO can be more than just a drive-by game for me.

Does this kind of game appeal to you? If not soccer, err....football, which of the sports (individual or team) do you think would make a good MMO game?

If they implemented a great social function into the game, where I could sport my bling, I'd be all for it.

This could be a good idea.

I personally have ZERO interest in the idea.

However, I could see it being very profitable and attracting a lot of players. I don't know how solid a monthly subscription fee would be.

YES - There are a lot of people who like Soccer but there are also Soccer games for consoles that have online functions. Now someone is going to pipe up and say "But they're no MMO's".

While I realize that - the nature of sports is that they are played in "Game" format. Which is much like sitting in a lobby then entering a game and then returning to the lobby.

So they would need to either make some aspect of this game incredibly deep to distinguish themselves beyond simply playing a game of Soccer OR drop subscription fees and instead profit off like... in-game advertising or something. Since it's not fantasy they could easily slam Mountain Dew logo's all over this thing.

I enjoyed playing Shot-Online, a free golf MMO. But the "MMO" aspect of it could probably just be described as "multiplayer online."

I'm not that competitive and wouldn't put enough hours into a game to get good enough for the "be the best in the world" aspect of a sports MMO to interest me.

Cheers,
