Introducing the first installment of our new series called VIP Access, where Ten Ton Hammer Premium Members get a chance to have their questions answered by the developers.
Ten Ton Hammer Premium Members submitted questions to ask the Cheyenne Mountain team about Stargate Worlds, and here are the answers:
Quote:
Drones become customized through Ability Tree Choices. Based on which Abilities are chosen and/or which trees are emphasized, that affects the Drone’s look and feel.
He's pretty much straight forward so i found the Q&A rather good, specific questions and specific answers.
Pretty much standard mmo stuff, i don't see much special really, for the rest interested in how the fps/rpg thing will mix, hopefully beter then Tabula Rasa.
They were amazingly direct with their answers. I think thats good to see. Hopefully they can continue being direct with us.
I'm really looking forward to this game. Hope the combat system is new and improved over TR. TRs combat system wasn't bad, but it felt way to much like a FPS.
I dont really agree about the directness, the answers where "nice" but somehow I got the impression that the "core" of most questions have been avoided.
But I talk about "feeling a impression" nothing specific, so forgive me if I am not able to point my finger at a specific topic.
In any case, Stargate seems to be interesting but nothing to get hyped up.
Edit: on a second thought, the answers to my questions in the article showed me that they didnt understand what exactly was asked...
...they seem to wear blinds which limit the answers to the context they are familiar with....or in other words, they understood what they wanted to understand.
Sounds rude ?
Sorry...its my fault then.

Reason: me tupid...me no brain...me clomp you..try to get brain...me no luck
The answers seemed a bit short but I didn't expect much at this point in the game. I'm looking forward to the game, it seems to be similar to Tabula Rasa or what TR wanted to be but couldn't become...
I like that we will have more then one starting location so we don't get bored leveling an alt or two. I re-read your questions Kralle and can't figure out what your talking about so it must be you :P
I'm guessing maybe they didn't elaborate enough on the topics?
Anyway, off to wait for Warhammer and then SGW when it arrives sometime next year, will unless it sucks of course.

It must be me, but I am so likeable! ...does that count ?
Kralle: Do you support "packrats" with plenty of storage to pack my stuff away?
A: You have a “bank” with storage. No idea, we've not thought about the long term impact of items and therefore probably don't have sufficient storage space
Kralle: Will quests have the possibility to have an unknown ending or reward?
A: We have twists and turns in the story, so I suppose the answer to the first part is yes. Most times, you are told what the reward will be. The story isn't told up front, it will unfold as you progress through a specific quest, however as the reward is an incentive to make you do the quest in the first place you will be told about it upfront
Kralle: Will quests and challenges give players different choices to solve them leading into a different path in said quest/challenge (dynamic quests, so to speak)?
A: The story is fairly linear. Missions change depending on the archetype, but we want people to all end up in the same place. There is a start, an end and something in the middle, you all start in the same place, end up in the same place, and all take fairly similiar paths through the middle bit
Kralle: Do we need to suck-up to "higher beings?"
A: The players are the heroes of the story. Naturally, you aren't a General, fall into place and do your part of the larger organisation you are part of. Though all players are equal and you will not have to obey a Gou'ald player if you don't want to
Kralle: Will items like clothing, weapons, artifacts, talismans and the like have a strong impact on abilities and skills?
A: They have an important effect on your combat ability. It's an RPG, stats and items are the most important thing in the game as everything is decided on a dice roll, how big of an impact you perceive this to be remains to be seen, but we believe that you'll want to upgrade and replace items as you progress through the game, just like any other MMORPG
Bored, much, yes.
Anyways, thought I'd offer my insight into his answers to your questions Kralle, based on my experience of the game so far, however brief it was.

Thank you very much for the effort to bring the answers in a different viewpoint...now I am able to better understand said answers.
This clear things up a lot and helped me to change some of my opinions to the better.
One of my main wishes for games is, that quests are more dynamic with different approaches to solve them....and that those dynamics are less known or transparent so to speak.
But I guess my problem is, I do know what I mean...but it doesnt mean it is reflected in the question itself.
Thanks again bobfish

Well a good way to phrase that is to quite simply say the whole thing...
Q: Is it possible for different classes to accomplish the same quest in different ways, for example a Soldier blasts his way through it and a Commando would use stealth and avoidance to accomplish the goals?
It is perhaps to early to get detailed information though, I think there is a very solid role playing game there, and as I've said in another thread the initial vague comments about SGW have given many the impression of a more action orientated title than it really is.
Also the engine is far from optimised at this time, so first impressions of actually playing it are somewhat negative, I know of a few people now who were completed disheartened because of issues with the starting area, lack of documentation and poor performance of the engine.
I hope that communication improves and they start promoting it for what it really is. It would be a shame for it to get to release and still have this confusion surrounding it.
