Editorial - Getting Prepared for Wrath of the Lich King
You are not prepared... but you should be!
The Burning Crusade was the first expansion for the World of Warcraft and prophetically the video contained Illidan speaking the lines "You are not prepared", and we were not. In general, WoW players worldwide were not really prepared for the changes that the Burning Crusade brought about to the game and the economy in it. That's why with the second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, still likely several months away, Byron "Messiah" Mudry believe it is time to begin preparing for it, and is here this week to walk you through preparing for it in his editorial.

Stock up on items for your Death Knight - This is almost the same as above, however has to do with items. You know that a Death Knight will use what is essentially DPS Warrior / Ret. Paladin gear, so grab it now. Get a stock pile of greens and blues to take you from 55 through 70 while you can. Once WotLK launches everyone and their dog will be looking for it and prices will sky rocket! Even if you have no intention of leveling a Death Knight, this could be a huge money making opportunity.
Good article as always - I have been doing the KZ gearing for about 9 months now - shaman is my raid toon but my hunter, warlock and warrior are set and ready to go (maybe a piece here and there). My druid, well I have no idea what to do with him. My rogue is currently my focus and I am hoping for some KZ love on Tuesday. Next will be my priest and mage and they have the tailoring crafted gear so they need "odds and ends". My last "project" will be my paladin who basically got to 70 and is parked and works as my transmute alchemist.
I did max out all professions so I am ready to go...regarding professions I would say to get lots of herbs for inscription - rumor is it that it will use herbalism as its gathering profession. Probably a stack of each leather and ore couldn't hurt.
I think KZ and the badge gear will help lessen the jump in gear as opposed to pre-TBC. When my non-raiding 60s came to Outlands their "endgame" experience had been the 5-mans in Azeroth like Scholomance, Stratholme and the like and thus the quest rewards were upgrades. While I think here and there the first quest rewards might be good I don't see them being the all out change in gear that pre-TBC to TBC was.
Definitely cannot wait for it and some of the information on talent trees looks awesome.

I'd say the majroity of the article was aimed at people who want to hit the level cap asap.
Apart from the 'spend your badges' and 'sell your current high end mats' nothing really applied to me - someone who just wants to hit northrend and experience new content.
Proffs are the biggies for me!
I want to get my epic bird form too but as we cant fly up north i can come back and do the heroic SH at my own pace which is great!
Im still torn between buying / crafting high end stuff now or not bothering.
I know that my current gear can be improved allot, and i want to be much more useful but not sure if its worth the gold and mats!
If you can get the mats readily enough without breaking the bank go for it - I still don't think we'll see the expansion before November at the absolute earliest....and some of that crafted stuff will probably last you a good bit into the expansion.

That's my thought as well. I'm thinking a november release date, and as long as I can keep 3-4k gold, I'll spend the rest on mats for crafted items.
After all you still want to feel like your making some progress until then. Just realize it's throwing good money after bad as it will be replaced by 75 no matter what your gear is.

One thing I read somewhere is that with a new class like the Death Knight I wonder if that will involve longer beta testing to see how it fits in with the other classes...honestly I bet January right at the 2 year release of TBC. I know some people said they should release it before Christmas for the rush but does it really matter?

Yes, I find it unlikely it will arrive anytime before Christmas. I have been working on getting my lock to 70 and was intending to go ahead and get the flying and epic flying mounts and then start saving up my gold for the expansion. Well, and maybe get back to my poor neglected druid but that is another concern. Is it wise to spend the money on the epic flying mount or should I just wait it out? My lock is an enchanter (only 360 atm) and tailor so the speed isn't needed for gathering mats. Any thoughts?
Everyone always asks me if I am going to get an epic flyer for each toon I have. I say that really outside of a gathering toon - and really more with mining and herbalism then skinning - I would say no. My shaman was my main miner and all and got hers first, my lock - also an engineer - got hers and between the mote extracting and mining does most of my farming. My rogue got the third epic because of the three herbalists I had she was the best suited to farming. I have thought about it for my druid for the epic flight form but he is my tailor/enchanter so it would be a little pointless.
As for getting the mount it won't be worthless in the expansion - yeah it might be 77 before you can use it there but I don't see the big deal. They won't drop in price unless another rank comes out and really all they are doing is adding mounts where you can take a rider - moving horizontially instead of vertically in terms of price and all.

I was wondering the same thing about epic flying mounts. The price may not come down but can't we assume that there will be more gold to be had, that is more gold per quest. I really don't need an epic mount, it would be nice, but need? Especially if the advice is hoard up a stock pile of gold. 3- 4K. What will I need all that gold for? Forgive me for not following WOLK discussions that much, are they charging for sleeping at the INN now?
I've already been clearing bags, mail and bank slots of items I don't immediately need. One thing you may have missed it finding your leveling spec and appropriate leveling gear (especially if you plan on changing spec).
