Meh, I played Wood Elves before the last codex came out. If I lasted three turns I considered it a victory. Being a punching bag was what caused me to play Space Wolves in 40K. I could deliver the beating or take it depending on which Games Workshop title I chose to play.

The Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay rpg is where my heart is with regards to Warhammer. Back in '86 my friends and I were still playing AD&D, until the day I went into my local games shop and saw this;
I just knew I had to buy it.
It is still my favourite 'generic' medieval style fantasy rpg to this day, and the second edition of the game just made it better.

I didn't play until 2000 or so. By then the rules were drastically changed. I personally prefer 40K, but mostly because there were more players where I lived. It was easier to get a game.

Oh yeah, I noticed that Loading... isn't listed in the available TTH RSS feeds.
Any plans to make it so?
Once we have it living in its own domain and tagged appropriately that might be possible. Right now, it's just another bunch of pages without any coherent linkage.

Way back when my regular group was pretty heavily into AD&D as well. The few times we'd try out other things it always came down to a group decision, so we never really got around to giving Warhammer a go.
Since then my main exposure to any of it's been the insane amounts of time I've put into the 40k RTS games, so all things considered most of the lore etc behind Warhammer is still somewhat new to me. At least for me though that tends to be a good thing - when WAR is launched it would be a completely blank slate for me so I won't have any preconceived notions on story or how the various factions involved should be acting.
I've been paying a bit more attention to how WAR is progressing than I expected to, and will admit that it does definitely sound like it has the potential to be an extremely solid gaming experience. I agree that at least to a certain degree some of the pop-culture references and tongue-in-cheek humor of WoW helped create an environment that was more appealing to a broader audience. I'm glad that WAR will have a bit of that as well, but then again is there even a game on the market released in the past few years that doesn't at the very least have some humorous spin on 'Snakes on a Plane'?
I never played the table top, nor read any comic books or novels, nor really played the 40k RTS games all too much...
My interest in Warhammer Online has been purely due to the systems and mechanics in place that I believe will make this a great MMORPG.
Since I started following WAR I have done research into the Warhammer world and am trying to develope an appreciation for the lore.
But honestly my #1 concern and #1 reason for being such a rabid fanboi of this game is because it looks like an amazingly fantasticaliscious MMO.
Anyone else catch G4 on Friday? Disapointingly short interview with Jeff and Paul, but they were showing some solid PvE gameplay video of (what looked to be) a mid to high level Chosen. It looked excellent.
I cannot wait till the end of July when I am going to Games Day Chicago, I'm sure it'll not only be a good opportunity to talk with EAMythic staff and finally get my hands on playing WAR, but also will be a great opportunity to interact with and learn about the Warhammer world and community.
