Default Testing Wargames: Scoping Out the New Zone

We dove head first into the new Wargames map on the Test Server. If you haven't had a chance to see what the buzz is all about, experience it here.

You'll also get a peek at some new types of equipment dropping on Test. A chance for more variety, if it makes it to Live.

the wargame map seems to be a half way decent approach to the PvP anomali but it would seem that gettting enough peeps in there to have a half way decent fight could be a challenge, unless of course for the outfits/clans. I for one am not a PvP'r but for those who are it looks to be a great idea...hope it works out.

as for all the other changes that are in the works I will wait and see how the comments go here in the forums. Maybe, once I am better healed, Oldcoot will return to the battlefields to continue the fight and hopefully one day return the Earth to its rightful owners....till then, "Hoahh!! ya apes".

and, special props to EC, for hanging in there and especially picking on the cruits at Twin towers outpost:duck:

Aye, <3 Eternalchaos.

If I read the wargame stuff correctly, this seems to be very similar to a TF2 map in that there are two capturable points and both teams have to try to capture the opposing point while still defending their own (I'm sure a game much earlier than TF2 had this idea, but TF2 is where I first ran into it). This may not be "end game" material, but this is a good step in the right direction for what to do while waiting on new material (in my opinion, of course).

If it stays popular, it could have the potential to get non-PvP'ers more involved in the PvP possibilities. Personally, I'm a PvE'er. But, like TF2, I wouldn't mind being able to pop in for a couple of rounds of capture-the-flag. I'll get uber-owned, but I'm secure enough not to need the ego-boost anyway...

That's exactly it, Deadpool. Two CPs active. The problem is that the map is awfully small, and the fights I was in lasted about 5 minutes. It will get old very quick until more structure is implemented. A lot of people talking in chat said it would be great fun to have random Bane spawn on the battlefield, just to mess with things a little!

It's a great distraction, but it does prove to me that trying to screenshot the whole situation while spamming a repair tool does not keep a medic alive for very long

lol... I appreciate the attempt at pictures, but keep the finger on the heal tool!...

Then I'd have to say I'd agree with the 'random Bane' idea. Nothing over the top, but enough to force teams to pay attention to the potential problem.

Maybe NCSoft should outsource the map design part to Valve... heh... They seem very good at setting up balanced and intelligent maps.

The important thing to remember here is that this map was not ever really intended to go live. It's a test-map and that's all it was supposed to be.

I seriously hope that THIS map never makes it Live because I think it has some problems (like being too small) but I hope they pay attention to the buzz it's generating and design a couple better maps that work the same way and intorduce them to the game. I'm not a big PvP player but I can certainly recognise a winning format when I see it. There's quite a few people out there that would love this stuff and for variey's sake it would be a great thing to have in the game.

yeah as coffey said this wasn't designed to actually go live but simply a test if it even works. You ask me.. it works. But we need map variety and a unique form of prestige

I call it "Battle Credit"

as you fight your battle in the map; you earn battle credits. The entire team earns battle credit as a group (like prestige but with a 10 lv gap ) OKay in short.. as you earn the BC you can spend it to buff your base up and defenses... the winning team will split their remaining BC evenly; and before they are removed from the instance can spend it on loot

like 100 BC can buy you a random purple TSR or Grav Piece lv 40 etc etc Leave the arena and your BC goes back to 0

woops forgot to mention; yeah the new gear looks very interesting. I'd also love to see SET gear with unique textures implemented.
