Default The Agency: Exclusive Video Q&A with Matt Wilson at ION 2008

SOE's The Agency promises to let players slip into a sleek world of espionage and adventure unlike any other MMO game to date. The man behind this creation is none other than Matt Wilson, Director, who we've seen discussing the project frequently. Ten Ton Hammer was fortunate enough to get a few minutes with him and ask some very candid questions. Want to know the creative strategy behind the game or perhaps why the game is now going to be rated "M" for Mature? Check out our video to learn more.

I've never been big on shooter-style games, but The Agency looks different and cool and for that reason alone its on my radar.

Anyone else keeping an eye on this game?

The overall concept for the game definitely sounds interesting to me, though as I've said before I'm not all too into the concept of it being so focused on it's shooter aspects. It seems there's been more information on that end of things lately than on the idea of having Paragon and U.N.I.T.E. being two separate groups who may have the same goals yet approach them in different ways. Hopefully some of those differences in gameplay are still being pushed even if it's not been given as much emphasis in press.

I'm sure I'll definitely keep my eye on the game either way, but hopefully we'll start seeing some more detail on other aspects of the game beyond the shooter elements as it moves into further stages of development.

This one is DEFINITELY on my radar. I'm not a HUGE fps fan, and I have to admit, privately I've called this game an MMOfps, although, I don't think you're required to run it in first person perspective, so that's probably mis-stating things a bit. I'm also part of a growing, albeit minority, part of the gaming market. I'm a 45 year old female gamer. AND....I'm very excited about this game!

I have, at times, found shooters that were quite enjoyable to play...Painkiller, Unreal, CS Source, Tribes...yet all of those games have lacked some element or elements that makes me "stick," and that is probably a combination of many MMO aspects. Gaming is a type of social activity to me. I VERY much enjoy solo gaming, but I also enjoy the social gaming. For me, the ideal game has BOTH, and up to this point, no game has very successfully managed to combine a shooter-style game with a true MMO foundation. Yes, I know....HALO....blah blah blah. To me, that's not the same. There needs, for me, to also be an RPG flavor to it, which The Agency seems to have, that Halo indeed does not. To be fair, I haven't played Tabula Rasa, because the reviews haven't impressed me.

The Agency really intrigues me with it's spy RPG thing goin' on there, and the MMO foundation, seemingly neatly knit with guns and fast cars, stealth, intelligence, counter-intelligence, etc, etc. I mean, seriously, who hasn't fantasized about being a SPY?!! Yes, boys....even the ladies of gaming think that sounds COOL!

I'll be keeping a VERY close eye on this one, to be sure!! I can hardly WAIT! I would certainly love to help in the beta, although I know we're probably a long way from that just yet. I think Sony may have a real winner on their hands here. I truly hope so.

My husband and I are following this game as well. We like shooters & are always on the lookout for something new. This game looks very promising.
