With all the recent talk of PvP emenating across the forums, I developed another wave of curiosity and figured it was time for another poll. That said, what kind of pvP are you hoping for?

I'll be rolling a PvP Server. So I'm going to be trying out a Free For All ruleset I guess.

Never tried it in any MMO before, so should be fun, just got to stay ahead of the levelling curve :P

I want enforced RP-PVP. I think a naming policy and seperate channels for ooc chat at the least. Anything past that I doubt could be implemented in time.

I come from a hard-core PvP style past. There's nothing like a full loot pvp system. Really adds a whole different level to the community. You may get irritated when somone gets the jump on you and kills you... but you get plain mad when they take your gear too. Leads to actuall "good guys" and "bad guys", not to mention the guild wars it spawns. Ahh yes, war...

People stealing your gear upon a kill? Do you have any idea what that would do to raiding? You work hard for your gear only to have it taken by 1 bastard that ends up killing you...you'd never see a raider leave town alone again. It'd just not work at all.

No, as much as PvP attracts me I only want it to happen when I WANT it to happen...ergo in the Border kingdoms or minigames. If you like making other people miserable (grieving etc) for personal enjoyment that's fine, just don't play around me. So PvE server for me

I love pvp, but I think it should deffinitly be race vs race. This might be a little difficult for the Stygian as they have no soldier types(maybe one of the demon guys can be a tank form). I don't know if I want to be fighting every dude I come across though, lest they be from another race.

Harh harh :P Let's not turn this into a pvp vs carebear server debate, shall we? If you want to force me into any niche, maybe I am a carebear as I abhor getting grieved. Any mechanic ingame that makes me want to throw my keyboard through the window is one I want to avoid if possible, and here I can.

The problem with race vs race, as you already state, is that every race has different archetypes available to them. So Stygians would be the only one with mages. This would create an inherent imbalance, and would always make PvP derail to where WoW is now...namely with one faction heavily unbalanced on each server vs the other faction (differs between battlegroups which that faction is...though usually its horde).

Either that or the devs would have to balance each archetype such that every race would be balanced vs the other races with the selection they have available. This would then end up in the amalgamation of all classes, which is something you ofcourse really want to avoid.

Well, I voted FFA, though I prefer the term open PVP.

And as you can tell by my updated sig, I'll be playing on the RP-PVP server. I'm definately not a fan of the full looting though (and I think most people aren't).

But I do think there should be some form of looting. My opinion is anything equipped stays with you, anything in your inventory gets dropped. That way you only lose what extra items/gold that you've picked up on your latest adventure. That way there is some loss in losing or gain in winning. And if you pick up any valuables that you don't want to lose and can't equip, just be smart about it and put it in your bank right away.
