Chronicles of Spellborn Exclusive Video Preview

This is especially for those of you who called us out on the two Spellborn vids we posted last week - you're right, they were old, but worth watching again!

For this *new* video, we spoke with Pierre Deslandes, PR Manager for Spellborn, at GDC 2008. Pierre demoed the game, answered questions, and covered a wide variety of topics, from character creation to combat basics to the latest word on open beta. Premium viewers get 10 more minutes of video detailing the loot system, body slots, inventory, how combos work, and even a glimpse of the high level game with a zone called Ringfell.

I have to wonder why the buzz for TCoS isn't higher. I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact that it's competing for attention with AoC and WAR. Still, I find this game intriguing. I'm anxious to give it a whirl.

I'm somewhat surprised that there's not been a lot more buzz for the game as well. I'm sure that the potential time frame for it's release definitely plays a factor (even WAR is getting squashed by the hype surrounding AoC.. and then just wait until a release date for Wrath of the Lich King is thrown into the mix )

Chances are buzz will definitely pick up for TCoS once information is released re: them finding a US publisher and what a potential release date in the US will be. Unless a publisher's already been announced and I somehow missed it!

Thanks for putting the new vid up here though - I've been watching the game's development for quite a while now so it's great to get a chance to see a bit more of various systems / character customization etc.

Welcome to the forums, Mirage. I just watched the video this morning. It's neat to see some of the game play elements at work. I am still on the fence about TCoS. I like a cerebral combat system (and haven't really found many of those since P&P D&D) more than a twitchy action-style system. For a loser with poor reflexes like me, is TCoS a bad idea?

The combat shown in that video looked pretty twitchy to me, but I'm slow and old. I need to read up more on that fascinating wheel, is that rotated by the player, or does it always roll back to level one and then roll up to 2 and if you do something right it rolls up to 3 - OR - is the player swtiching manually between the sides?

Combat looks fun, the animations look solid. When can I play it again?

I really need to look into more ginkobiloba or some other memory miracle drug.

It looks to me like you turn the wheel using the 1-6 keys and have to activate spells or attacks with the mouse. I may be wrong though.

Well, like i stated before those supposedly old videos where new to me. So TTH thank you. I will now follow this game development because, so far from what I have seen it looks fantastic. Very solid indeed

The wheel rotates to the next row any time that you use an attack. Also, it will roll back if you don't attack for a certain amount of time.
