Age of Conan Active Blocking and Sneaking Video from GDC '08

As Age of Conan draws ever closer to the fabled May 20th release date, the amount of information about the game continues to expand and grow. Players are already gearing up their desired classes and jotting out strategies for success in the high-end PvP areas. But a few pieces of information - active blocking and sneaking in particular - were still being hidden away by the developers, but the Ten Ton Hammer staff has pulled out all the stops to bring this content to you. At GDC '08, the Ten Ton Hammer crew witnessed active blocking and sneaking first hand, and now we're proud to present the Age of Conan community with the video from the event. Enjoy!

It's new to MMOGs, that's for sure. Should make things extra cool. Will make things a bit more complicated for the tank types - which IMO is a good thing. Been playing a tank for years and a bit of skill involved will be nice instead of being 90% equipment reliant.

If you get hit from behind which side of your blocking stance would it affect?

i would guess you can't because it's also hard in real life. if your not made of rubber, that is. it will help the rouge classes too. since you dosen't just disapear when sneaking it's hard not to get spoteded.

That's great, they have really tried to bring some real-life mechanics into the game. I like the fact that all classes can seek, and that armor plays into it somewhat. Lets get real here, should the dude clanking around in full plate sneak as well as the guy in cloth?

The blocking is going to make pvp a lot more interactive. It will make knowing the other classes very important. I like it, but I do wonder if it will make peeps with good computers just a tad more able to react. Since I just dropped $6900 on a rig I don't want too much of an advantage....

I doubt it mate. Once you spend more than $2500-$3000 you are basically just in graphics land. The latency in your internet connection is going to be the biggest roadblock to your reaction times by far.

$6900 buys you a dream machine for FPS, but doesnt help in MMO's that much.

For the heck of it, mind posting you specs? I know you want to ;-)
