The Black Company - the last great mercenary brotherhood

About four centuries before the first chronicle, The Black Company began, twelve Companies surged out from the mythical land of Khatovar, birthed in blood and fire. Little remains to lend insight into the purpose and identities of these early warriors, and all but one company returned to the Plain of Glittering Stone. The one that remained behind was The Black Company.

The Black Company is a mercenary unit which accepts payment for doing anything our employer's have no wish to do themselves, provided it is based in war. Since the Black Company first began taking contracts, many years after embarking as one of the twelve free companies of Khatovar, we have never failed or backed out of a contract, though our employers have been known to be as treacherous as the enemies they pay us to fight. This tradition continues to this day and is the back bone of our relationship with any employer who enters into a contract with us.

We take our name and guild model from the novels written by Glen Cook. This particular branch of TBC has been around since 2002, having crossed several games, including Anarchy Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Battlefield2, World of Warcraft, and Eve Online. There are a number of other branches of the Black Company out there in many different games. Our particular branch currently maintains active rosters in both World of Warcraft (Illidan server) and Eve Online.

Our leadership billets are primarily based in accordance to the novels. The head of the Company is the known simply as the Captain. The second in command is simply known as the Lieutenant. Each game will elect a Lieutenant and Division Commanders as their designated leaders. There will always be an Infantry Division and a Supply Division, each headed by a Division Commander. Each Division Commander will assign as many Sergeants as they see fit based on the number of troops available per division.

Infantry is exactly that, the force that is our spearhead in and around the battlefield. Supply Division, the backbone of any fighting force, provides nearly all equipment available in-game. We believe in securing the best of the best of any and all crafting professionals in order to maintain the highest level of readiness and to keep our hard earned money in our own pockets.

Our main motto in the Company is, Of By and For. This means exactly that, that everything we do is for the benefit of the Company. We do not recruit glory hounds or solo kings. Every action we take has the Company gain at its heart, Of By and For. You will not find a more loyal brotherhood of gamers anywhere.
