With the already bursting patch notes list for Aion patch 1.5.1, NCsoft has added to the preliminary list with even more fixes and updates. While the new additions are primarily minor changes there are some interesting alterations that caught my eye including aether extraction captcha and helpful keyword searches on the broker.
Quote:
1. When you extract Aether, there’s a chance that Aether Poison Gas will infiltrate your body. The poison blocks gathering for a certain period of time unless you detoxify the poison.
- Once you are poisoned the only way to detoxify yourself is to utter the "Cleansing Word.”
- To utter the Cleansing Word, type the randomly given letters and numbers within the designated time
- When you utter the Word, you get three chances to enter the correct letter/number sequence. If you fail three times, Vitality Extracting and Aether Extracting are prohibited.
- The “/ExtractStatus” command provides your extraction status.
- When you have Aether Poison Gas in your body, you can still move and activate other abilities, so move to a safe place before you utter the Cleansing Word.
I think having the captcha is a little over board. The biggest problem I have is the legion leader gets all the medals if the fort they own is defended, he dose not even have to be there. Why am I going to help a legion defend there fort and get nothing for it, when I can just let it fall and try to take it back when it pops again.
Yeah that capture thing is just retarded... way to make an already mind-numbing grind even more annoying NC. ^.^b Pretty soon, the only characters gathering aether are gonna be the bots.

I was reading about that being a big concern. What then would be a better system?

They could very easily keep track of a contribution based on AP or Xp earned while in the area of the fort, and say if you reach point A you get a silver medal and if you reach point B you get a gold medal, set the levels high enough so that it will require you to group up and work together and actually spend most of the time there defending. But I guess they would first have to get the game running smooth enough so 90% of the people don't crash as soon as the enemy starts hitting the main gate.
The way they want to make it has no incentives for anyone but the legion holding the fort, even then it depends on the GM of the legion to not be a total ass and just give medals to their friends. I don't care how nice you think the person is no one out side of the legion will ever get one of the medals unless the buy them off the broker.
This is a good way to prevent anyone who would think about starting Aether from doing it.... utterly retarded. I had no idea bots could automate flight.

Go to Heiron main camp, it is cool how they bot it actually, sucks bad for those trying to do it legit.
They fly up, hit the rotation of nodes, do 5 harvests each, and fly back, always the exact same pattern. They are all stacked in +flight stuff and will even harvest your stuff. When it was just 1 or 2 of them, you could fly in front of them and get it all, but now they all have different patterns and will take nodes you are even working on.
I do see a couple bots programmed to leave the node if someone else is on it, at least they are courteous
