New Anarchy Online Graphics Engine Trailer

In the halls of MMORPG lore, there are a few games that really stand as the founding fathers of the current massively multiplayer games we play today. Although Anarchy Online wasn't the first to hit the scene, the developers at Funcom used their first entry into the online space to develop a bevy of features that are now prevalent in today's games: instancing, dynamic quest creation, and more! Thankfully, the developers at Funcom haven't forgotten about their first-born and have spent a great deal of time and effort revamping the old graphics engine! The new engine upgrade is really worth it and it doesn't hurt people with older systems au contraire...let me explain:

The current AO engine is rather old scratch that it's very old, it doesn't even make use of GPU's the new one will make full use of those graphic processors and finally moving from DirectX 7 to atleast DirectX 8 so even those with slighty older PC's will get a increase in performance aswell as those with new machines get a boost.

I think the investment is worth it, i'm obviously biased having played AnarchyOnline for a good 2 to 3 years and still having 2 accounts open, although will soon become inactive.
But if you went to look what the main complaints are why people were skipping it, can be summarised with this sentence "It looks to old/outdated".(Ofcourse you got those that just don't like sci-fi games)

It's still one of the best sci-fi games on the market that difference himself also by a rather well done character development system that i still have to see matched or surpassed in another mmo.

Fun fact: This is not the age of conan engine but a upgraded Anarchyonline engine and it's completely developed independantly.
Expect a release as soon as fall-winter 2008.
