Crafting in Age of Conan Revealed

Even though we'll have to wait 8 more weeks to play AoC, we definitely got the impression in Oslo that all the pieces are starting to come together. One big piece that we hadn't seen discussed much up to this point was crafting. In this video, you'll see Funcom's Morten Byom, Erling Ellingsen, and Gaute Godagger detail the role of crafted goods, plus go in-depth into the basics of crafting and harvesting in Hyborea.

Was this what you were expecting with crafting? What do you think about the Diablo-esque gems and gem slots?

Just a comment on the video production.Is there a way to edit out the music in the background so the commentary is clearer ? For those of us that are a bit "auditory challenged" it would help.Thanks.

Thanks, that's great and exclusive info. I'm just a bit disappointed that you'll find almost all resources in one place (seems too easy?).

Gem system is cool, I liked it in Diablo II.

Crafting aside, G.G. said he imagined most people would have several specialized sets in endgame. I thought this game wasn't supposed to be gear-dependent.

They've said that it won't be as gear dependent as other MMOs, but it will still matter. Really it sounds more like the way gear was in Dark Age of Camelot, which is a good thing. I'd really like to know if you can re-gem items or you have to create a totally different item. Probably the later (which is what DAoC had), since it will create a better demand for crafted items. I just hope we are going to be getting adequate bank space for these sets we might need if that's the case.

Nothing wrong with the video. It's great knowing exactly what you were told straight from the horse's mouth.

As for Vendrac's question about gems; I'm pretty sure I read/saw somewhere that once a gem is placed the effect is irreversible.

Currently level 40 but they are looking at moving that to 20.

Can you only have 1 type of crafting, or many, but limited, or unlimited?
