How is Ranger DPS?

Still waiting for my copy of AoC but definitely going to roll a Ranger. Just curious as to how the dps is so far. Seeing the PvP weekend footage, with ridiculous dps one day and then not so good dps after a fix, not quite sure what to think. Being a Rogue type class, I still think they should have higher than average dps.

the damage they do is average, but from what i heard, critical hits are devestating. Im not sure if it was changed, but rangers were one hitting tank-classes in pvp

The one-hitting if I remember correctly was in the Gamestop PvP weekend. That changed quickly within a few hours (Seems rangers had a higher level bow then they should have) and all is well now (unless some other bug happened right now while I'm typing this :p).

I've found DPS to be very good. It can be too good at times and you may pull aggro from your resident Soldier class in the group, so you need to be careful when fighting mobs that you can't solo.

I believe your ranged DPS is going to depend on how you spend your feat points. I'm running through the crossbow heavy tree, using the quest reward level 15 crossbow (Red Hand Sting I believe). I've hit with a couple of 500+ crits against level 20 mobs, but most of my normal damage I see ranges anywhere from about 160 to 350 or so per combo shot (combos will do more damage than your regular directional shots [the red arrows].
